Connecticut State Medical Society - 5/5: Health equity summit and grant

Connecticut State Medical Society - 5/5: Health equity summit and grant: "(Hartford) The Connecticut State Medical Society today released results from a follow-up study in the wake of its two-year campaign to assess physicians’ awareness of and education campaign to reduce health disparities in Connecticut. The results show that 45% of Connecticut physicians said the way they provide care has changed since the campaign was initiated in 2009. At that time, a baseline study of physicians from 17 specialties, “Providing Medical Care to Diverse Populations” found that 70% of physicians were not aware of educational programs in this area that were available to them. In contrast, the 2011 survey of the same physician groups found that 55% already had taken continuing medical education (CME) training in cultural awareness. This is in strong contrast to the 2009 CSMS study, when 70% of physicians said they were not aware of training available to them"
