RWJMS - Departments and Institutes - Family Medicine
The Center for Healthy Families and Cultural Diversity (CHFCD) in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School was established in 1997, and is dedicated to leadership, advocacy, and excellence in promoting culturally-responsive, quality health care for diverse populations. The CHFCD recognizes that persisting racial and ethnic health disparities in health and health care are major clinical, public health, and societal problems. Our approach to developing cultural competency involves a systems/ecological perspective, a focus on life-long professional and personal learning, and collaboration with key stakeholders and constituency groups.
