BLACK NEW YORK

The official publication of Carla L. Peterson’s Black Gotham: A Family History of African Americans in Nineteenth-Century New York City is Tuesday, February 22, but already she is lending her voice to the story of free blacks in the age of slavery and Reconstruction in New York.
Today, Peterson will appear on PRI’s Tavis Smiley Show, airing throughout the weekend in different areas. Later she will be at the Woodrow Wilson Center in DC, and you can tune in for their live webcast at 2pm. Next Wednesday, February 23, she will be at the CUNY Graduate Center, 6:30pm, in New York.
Other appearances in the two cities will continue throughout the spring. Click here to see the full schedule.
