The Greater Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Johnny C. Bush presented a Black Heritage Choir Musical on Sunday, February 27, 2011. Entitled "Something Old, Something New" the musical was a full production including cast support from Elder Robin Simmons, Deacon Herbert Dockery, Sylvia Simmons and a special musical interlude by Jonathan DuBose.

Productions can take on many coats and colors. This rendering of the black musical soul was illuminated by such selections as "Sweet Home", "Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah", " Anybody Here Love My Jesus"," I Want Jesus to Walk With Me"and "If You're Talking About Jesus" just to name a few.

Productions can be scenic and lavish or soulful and eternal. The Black Music DNA is deep and abiding. The wonder of it all surpasses any recent marketing slogan. What a way to end Black History Month. Although we are a universal part of history 24/7/365, this event was more than a footnote. As Pastor Johnny C. Bush, so eloquently shared black music history between songs, whether we could read notes or repeat notes, follow the chord or sing with no "electric" cord, our destiny then and even more so now depends on our harmony as a people, as a race, as a nation and as a world! Black Music is that world anthem. Get on Board!
