The $270 million stimulus grant used to flat-fund ECS last year is about 14 percent of ECS. The website says that without that 14 percent, “it’ll be our kids who will suffer the most.”At the press conference, Rader said the legislature and governor need to make “public education the No. 1 priority.”That 14 percent would have a very different effect on different towns. For example, the amounts vary from $1.5 million in Milford, $2.6 million in East Haven, $3.2 million in Hamden, $5.9 million in West Haven, $16 million in Waterbury and $20 million in New Haven.
