A Connecticut Adoption and Family Services worker will explain different types of adoption and offer a step-by-step outline to adopting a child. Adoption of infants from within the United States, as well as the adoption of children from countries through which Connecticut Adoption & Family Services facilitates adoptions from, will be discussed. Families are greatly needed for African-American children of all ages from the state foster care system, as well as African-American infants through private adoption. Jan. 30, 2011 - College Goal Sunday At College Goal Sunday, students and parents can talk to experts and get in-depth help filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In addition to receiving assistance in filling out the FAFSA, participants will receive general information regarding state and federal financial aid programs. Participants will have a chance to win scholarships. SAVE THE DATE Jan. 26, 2011 - A Day of Spoken Word Join Black Connecticut in partnership with P.A.S.S.I.O.N., the City of Stamford and the Mayor's Office for an afternoon dedicated to talented youth in the area. The event will begin with a panel of discussion on the origin of Hip Hop and Spoken Word followed by youth entertainers presenting their talents. This event is FREE and all youth ages 5 to 20 are invited to perform. This event will be held at UCONN - Stamford in the auditorium from 1 PM to 4:30 PM.
