MALLOY APPOINTS PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTOR
Dr. Jewel Mullen, an energetic medical doctor who has managed to earn additional advanced degrees every decade as she preaches the gospel of prevention and wellness, is a model of health herself.
“My grandmother is going to be 104, so I’m hoping that I’m only sort of half-way through,” Mullen, 55, said of her lifetime ambitions as she takes on the job of director of public health in Connecticut, the latest appointment by Gov.-elect Dan Malloy.

Mullen has commuted to Boston for the past three years where she directed the Bureau of Community Health and Prevention for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
