FALSE POLITICS

A good friend of mine shared with me his thoughts about the defeat of the American Dream Act
bill. His thoughts are really cogent and on point. I particularly like them because it reminds
us that politics is often a function of time-place-strategy and fear. Yes fear for the
apprehension about what might happen and what could happen to you personally can blind us all
to the greater good. I love politics for it is a daily, nightly, 24-7 chess game of moves and
counter moves Speaking of which the upcoming Lieberman campaign will be a perfect example
situation based politics, but I digress. Enjoy my friends thoughts below and comments are
always welcome. Remember, the struggle will always continue!

"Simply put, it would have passed had all the dems
voted for it, they didn't need
a single republican vote. The fact the dems tried to
pass it in the lame duck
session was a huge strategic mistake and only fueled
the GOP's ability to
portray this as a precursor to an amnesty bill.

I think the democrats and the president F-ed up on this big time by not dealing
with this sooner. I also think that they tried to
force it in the lame duck
knowing full well it wouldn't pass, as a way to pin Hispanics against the
republicans for the 2014 elections ... and to steer
criticism away from them
because Hispanic support for the dems has dwindled due promises like this not
being done during the time the dems controlled the
legislative and executive
branches.

This bill or one similar to it will not pass for many
more years to come. Not
only because the congress will be more conservative,
but I think frankly that
most people want our leader's to focus on the economy and our debt, and not on
this, gays in the military or other side issues. Not to say these aren't
important, but people are tiring of politicians claiming successes only on side
issues when we still don't have a federal budget, will have to raise the debt
ceiling again next year, and unemployment continues to hover near 10%."
