Monumental Peace Tree Planting Ceremony
and International Peace Festival
at Criscuolo Park (corner of Chapel and James)
Saturday, September 18, 2010 10 AM to 2 PM
On Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 10 a.m. a tree-planting and commemorative plaque will be dedicated at Criscuolo Park on the occasion of United Nations International Day of Peace.
This ceremony and permanent living monument will highlight Fair Haven's role as a neighborhood of many nationalities living in peace. The event will be followed by an international festival with cultural presentations.
It is exciting that this year Fair Haven has been designated to receive a peace tree, joining the West River, East Rock and Newhallville neighborhoods which have previously enjoyed this distinction and continue to hold annual celebrations.
We hope that in addition to your own presence, you will encourage attendance by members of your organization, school or church.
In Peace,
Alfred L. Marder, Chair City of New Haven Peace Commission
Celestino Cordova, Peace Commissioner and event coordinator
