Background: The 2009 poverty and income data, to be released by the Census Bureau on September 16, are expected to reveal the largest one-year increase in poverty on the record. Projections are estimating that nearly one in four children lived in poverty last year.
But how does this data translate into the lived experiences in communities across the country? What do we do to reverse these troubling statistics? What are the economic costs of inaction? And what can you do to ensure that we have a shared economic recovery that rebuilds our middle-class?
