The Commander in Chief's Week Ahead


THE PRESIDENT'S WEEK AHEAD, per the White House: "On Saturday, the President and the First Lady will attend the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Inc.'s Annual Legislative Conference Phoenix Awards Dinner in Washington, DC. The President will deliver remarks. ... On Sunday, the President has no public events scheduled. ... On Monday, the President will participate in a live CNBC town hall on jobs. Later, the President will travel to Philadelphia for an event for the DNC and an event for Congressman Sestak. On Tuesday, President Barack Obama will award Chief Master Sergeant Richard L. Etchberger, U.S. Air Force, the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry. Chief Etchberger will receive the Medal of Honor posthumously for his heroic actions in combat on March 11, 1968, in the country of Laos. On Wednesday, the President will hold an event on the Patients' Bill of Rights. In the afternoon, the President will travel to New York City for the UN General Assembly. He will also attend an event for the DSCC/DCCC joint committee in the evening.
"On Thursday, the President will address the United Nations in New York City. Later, the President and First Lady will join President Bill Clinton to address the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) in New York City. The President will also hold bilateral meetings with Chinese Premier Wen and Japanese Prime Minister Kan. On Friday, the President will attend meetings as part of the UN General Assembly, including attend a UN-hosted meeting on Sudan to look ahead at the critical 2011 referendum. The President will also host a meeting with leaders of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) in New York City. The President has invited the leaders of the ten ASEAN member states as well as ASEAN's Secretary General to join him for the second ever U.S.-ASEAN leaders meeting. In the evening, the President will return to Washington."
