Publisher will be speaker at NAACP summit- The New Haven Register - Serving New Haven, Connecticut

NEW HAVEN — Earl G. Graves Jr., president and chief executive officer of Earl G. Graves Publishing Co., will be the keynote speaker Oct. 16 at the NAACP’s Economic Summit.
The event begins at 8 a.m. at Dodd’s Theatre at the University of New Haven, 300 Orange Ave., West Haven, and admission is $40 per person.
The company publishes Black Enterprise magazine, a national business publication. In his role, Graves is responsible for strategic positioning and overall profitability of the corporation.
Roberta Graham, chairwoman of the Economic Development Committee for the Greater New Haven branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, said the day includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
“Our theme is: Back to Basics, A Strong Foundation is Key,” she said.
Workshop topics include:
Who is lending and how much?
Developing a business plan to start and expand your business.
The importance of good credit.
The Economic Development Committee also is accepting sponsorships at a rate of $2,500 for title sponsors or $1,000 for regular sponsors. People also may join Graves for a VIP lunch with a $250 sponsorship.
Display booths are $100.
