Join Us on November 10th!
The Connecticut Association for Human Services (CAHS) this year celebrates 100 years of working to reduce poverty and create prosperity for all Connecticut children and families.
We are proud of our accomplishments, from organizing free tax preparation sites that put $10 million in the pockets of hard-working families last year, to providing town-by-town data on the well-being of children and families through our Kids Count data books, to advocating at the Capitol to protect funding for essential programs like child care subsidies and health care.
Despite great accomplishments, there is much work to be done. Almost half of Hartford’s children live in poverty. Racial and economic disparities in Connecticut are among the highest in the nation. Too many children lack the opportunity to succeed as adults because of inadequate educations. Help us realize our vision of prosperity for all – where all children and families have greater opportunity and can contribute to our state’s economic future.
Consistent with our history of promoting policies and practices that move people from poverty, our major Centennial celebration will be a provocative forum, Reclaiming the American Dream: Opportunity and Prosperity for All? Newark Mayor Cory Booker (click to read Cory's biography) and Yale Professor Jacob Hacker (click to read Jacob's biography), author of The Great Risk Shift: The New Economic Insecurity and the Decline of the American Dream will offer their insights, and will be joined by prominent Connecticut thinkers. The forum will take place November 10, 2010 at The Bushnell in Hartford, followed by a reception and award ceremony. There are several ways to support this special one-time event, as described in the enclosed list of sponsorship levels and benefits.
