One thing we know, next year's tournament , if there is one, will not be named the Pilot Pen.This is the last year of their sponsorship . I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a new sponsorship announcement in the near future. I am not objective about this situation of uncertainty. I can remember going to the library as a ten year old to get a book on how keep the score in tennis. I attended the Volvo Tennis Tournament , before it became the Volvo, when it was held in MT Washington-North Conway New Hampshire around 1974. Have covered every tournament here in New Haven , even the one year of the SNET Classic. Nothing is certain in life as they say except death and taxes. But to have one of the largest tennis stadiums in America sit dormant like the proverbial white elephant would be shocker. or would it? We shall see. Maybe it will become the aforementioned SNET Classic, or the Caldors Classic, or the FLEET BANK CLASSIC, or the SHAW's Classic or the Manufacturer's Hanover Classic?
