BBC - Colston Hall concert remembers city slavery link
A free concert is being organised in Bristol which aims to remember the history of slavery in the city.
The one-off show, organised by the Bristol Legacy Commission, will feature upbeat performances in the new wing of the Colston Hall.
Bristol City Council established the Bristol Legacy Commission in June 2008 as part of Abolition 200, which aims to make "Bristol more inclusive by tackling inequality".
One of the evening's performers will be Biram Seck, a Senagalese singer songwriter, from Easton in Bristol.
Biram's music has a "strong link to the legacy of the slave trade" and is produced by Pete Josef, a member of Roni Size's Reprazent.
A specially commissioned piece of temporary street art will also be unveiled, alongside a reading by Doctor Edson Burton.
