DREAM DANCE

What is is about the enticement of conversation that can intrigue the mind? Elizabeth Alexander and Bill T. Jones allowed us to become peeping toms into their world of art, dream, fantasy and creation. The International Festival of Arts and Ideas is not political on its face, but super political beneath the skin. It does not promote A cause . But maybe promotes every reason for every and any cause. Left leaning perhaps but still room for right correction is a possibility at every Idea segment of the festival and New Haven is a better place for it. New Haven will never be fully represented at the festival. Just as you will never find all of New Haven in any one place on a Sunday. Does the Center Church on the Green represent New Haven? Does Immanuel Baptist Church represent New Haven?

As Elizabeth Alexander and Bill T. Jones discussed the dance between the particular and the general, the dance between the male and female, the dance between the ying and the yang, the dance between the gay and the straight, certainly the stage presentation of life's spinning axis and our willing and unwilling role in helping or hindering the whirling dervish of perception was centered at least for the moment, as poet and dancer, artist and artist engaged in public verbal intercourse.

You had to have been there comes to mind. And yet we all are there constantly. This nexus of art and life, commercials and pitches, games and audience development manipulated and messaged by media was announced in high definition by two embodied channels dueling in creative harmony before our eyes.
