West Haven Firm Adds Relish to Whole Foods Lineup
WEST HAVEN - Mariah’s Chow Chow Relish has earned a spot on the highly coveted shelves of Whole Foods Market stores throughout the tri-state area.
In an initial order, Whole Foods has shipped Mariah’s two brands of all-natural gourmet relish to 21 outlets, including the Milford, Darien, Greenwich and Westport stores. Whole Foods is a leader in the natural and organic food movement. Since the first store opened in Austin, Texas in 1980, Whole Foods has grown to include more than 270 stores in North America and the United Kingdom.
“We seek out the finest natural and organic foods available, maintain the strictest quality standards in the industry, and have an unshakeable commitment to sustainable agriculture,” Whole Foods says on its website.
“Mariah's Chow Chow Relish is proud to be a member of the Whole Foods Market phenomenon,” said owner Phyllis Haynes, who began producing Southern-style relish for area retail outlets in 2009. “Our mission is to provide a good-tasting relish that is all natural and good for you. We have high standards and our goal is to sell the highest quality products we possibly can.”
