Growing up, New Haven natives Phillip Richardson and Tim Best were opponents on the basketball court.
Richardson, who was raised in the Hill section of the city and graduated from Richard C. Lee High School, and Best, who grew up near Dixwell Avenue and graduated from James Hillhouse Comprehensive High School, shared an early passion for basketball but played for different teams.
“We were competitors on the basketball court,” Richardson said.
But now the two, who both live in the Atlanta area, have joined forces in an effort to positively influence young men in the Elm City and beyond and help the nonprofits that cater to them — through a clothing line.
