PREPARE- YOUR FUTURE AWAITS

Yale Black Alumni had dinner with undergrads on Monday evening, April 12, 2010 at the Yale African American Cultural Center. Life after Yale is the theme and all of the returning alumni shared thoughtful reflections worth digesting and contemplating. To every college student who reads this post, begin now or increase your outreach to friends and family. Write some of your favorite teachers from the past. Connect with pastors, boy scout or girl scout leaders of years gone by. Find out how a great aunt or uncle is doing. Call your Sunday School teacher, Little League Coach, reach out and touch. One unifying theme permeated the many diverse journey narratives shared with the students. Consider life to be a web that you are weaving. Each connection made and renewed can move you along the path. Create those nodes of interface. Paint scenarios in your mind and in actions. Keep moving. Dead ends have meanings. Learn, live, investigate, act, ponder, learn , live, ponder, act. The flow is up to you but remember that you are not alone. Black Alum truth bearers and witnesses included:
Kristin duBay Horton '91, Founder, duBay Horton Associates, LLC, Public Health Consulting Firm
