Issues of police accountability will be on the table at the 2010 Oregon Black Political Convention is April 16-18, at the Crowne Plaza Portland Convention Center, 1441 NE 2nd Ave.
“The event serves as a forum for delegates to discuss issues and conditions, and to establish, through resolutions, the positions of the Black Community, collectively, on these issues and conditions affecting it,” says organizer Cal Henry, president of the Oregon Assembly for Black Affairs.
“It’s going to cover some issues that deal with the community at large in terms of the police and the Black community in the Portland area,” he said.
Candidates will also be in attendance seeking the organization’s endorsement, including incumbent Rep. Earl Blumenauer.
