President Obama and the DNC plan to lay out their strategy for 2010 in new detail this week, starting with an email and video message from the president Monday, vowing to engage the voters that turned out for him in 2008 and buoyed the Democratic ticket.
"This year, we're going to re-connect with voters like Claudia Schulz," Obama says in the video. "At 29 years old, Claudia had never been involved in the political process because she thought one person could never make a difference. But in 2008, Claudia joined millions of other supporters like you and made her first-ever trip to the polls. In 2010, it will be up to each of you to ask folks like Claudia to stay involved – and to explain why this year, the stakes are higher than ever. It will be up to each of you to make sure that the young people, African Americans, Latinos, and women, who powered our victory in 2008 stand together once again."
DNC Chairman Tim Kaine will detail the committee's plans further in an appearance hosted by the Christian Science Monitor Wednesday, and David Plouffe and Mitch Stewart will hold an online strategy session a week from today.
