2010 NAA Convention
Is it possible to have so much, that it amounts to little? Is it necessary to create a new math , where quantity and guality become companion measurements. Can there be too much of something bordering on gluttony,lunacy and mental masturbation?Suppose every national conference was cancelled for a year. No Urban League Conference in 2010. No Naacp Conference in 2010. No National Association of After School Programs in 2010. No Delta, Alpha, Kappa, Sigma, or Q conference. No Society of Newspaper Editor's Conference. No Episcopal church conclave.

Imagine that current volcanic cloud has shrouded the entire globe causing us to "cast our buckets down where we are." Imagine having to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps and having to walk rather than ride. Imagine having to swim rather than drive. The speed of information exchange has certainly not solved the educational crisis, the moral crisis, the political crisis, the environmental crisis,the nuclear crisis, the health crisis, the racial crisis nor the genocide crisis.
The quantity has certainly overshadowed the quality. Are industry groups , special interest groups and "do good groups" only in business to save themselves?

Very well put...The reality is none of it is necessary, nor required for the greater good of all. Like the non-profit organizations fighting for the same money to serve the same populations of people. It becomes a game of power and the individuals to be serviced end up receiving a poor quality of service. The groups then blame the government for not providing enough funding for all. If the various groups and organizations would come together and work together to form a dynamic system of service they would truly come from a place of quality as opposed to quantity. Community service means just that "community." If the various groups mentioned could truly from a group of one they would provide an amazing service for the highest good of all. Community service is sharing with the community, working within the community, teaching within the community, helping the community to grow and develop into all it can be truly does meet the highest good of all. When they are all branched off as they are, it creates a bit of competition as well as one must constantly show the importance of their organization. If we think about all the private dollars, corporate dollars and government dollars going into many of these groups and organizations what an awesome figure it would be. Working together would cut costs and allow more of this money to go where it is needed. Thus eradicating the need for the organizations to begin with. Namaste'
