So the website statement below will soon be revised. Inguiring minds want to know what were the annual sales volume for all of the Shaw's stores in Connecticut that are either being sold or abandoned? What was the sales volume matrix and prospectus formula that deemed the New Haven Shaw's and the Manchester Shaw's as not being worthy of purchase by Shop Rite or Stop and Shop? What is the annual volume for C-Town in Fair Haven and the Hill? Did the New Haven Community Partner's deserve a early notification that the New Haven store was under performing, if in fact that was the case?
Information from the Shaw's website:
About Shaw's Supermarkets
Our New England roots were firmly planted in 1860, when George C. Shaw opened his first store in Portland, Maine. A few years later, another native New Englander, Maynard A. Davis, opened his first 'Public Markets' in Brockton and New Bedford Massachusetts.
Together, these two men sowed the seeds that would one day become Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. And over the past 143 years, our growth can be directly attributed to the ingenuity of these two men and their belief in offering quality products and quality service.
Today, Shaw's Supermarkets continues to thrive, employing approximately 30,000 associates in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Vermont.
