Builders of Hope Breakfast
"If We Do Nothing..."
The lasting effects of childhood trauma
Keynote Speaker:
Vincent J. Felitti, MD,
co-Principal Investigator of the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study
Wednesday, May 12th
7:30 a.m.
The New Haven Lawn Club
Join us for our 8th Annual Builders of Hope Breakfast featuring Vincent J. Felitti, MD.
At Clifford Beers Clinic, we see the dramatic impact that trauma and violence have on children's mental health and their behavior. Until now, no one has examined the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (trauma) and its impact on adult health. The work of Dr. Felitti shows a direct correlation between chronic trauma exposure and the link to heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, smoking, and substance abuse. The ACE Study provides tangible proof of what happens to a child if we do nothing!
Tickets are $50.00 each. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
Post-Breakfast Panel Discussion:
Vincent J. Felitti, MD
"The Cost of Doing Nothing"
The Lifelong Consequences of Adverse Childhood Experiences
New this year!
Please join us and our panel of experts as we search for strategies and solutions to reduce the prevalence of trauma among young people. Together we'll hear how collaboration, dialogue, and a deep understanding of trauma can reduce its lifelong consequences and put an end to school failure, violence and imprisonment.
Panel Participants include:
Vincent J. Felitti, MD
co-Principal Investigator, ACE Study
Rudolph E. Brooks
