There is so much talk about school reform, teacher contracts, various tiers, testing, no child left behind and more. Let's not forget that as change and procedures are being implemented, each day our children still must receive our loving guidance and intentional presence. I will leave it to those more experienced and trained to determine what comprises a good education. What I do know is that events like the Family Science Night at the Lincoln Bassett Elementary School contains some of the answers. Like a scavenger hunt for wisdom, answers, clues and formulas for solving the achievement gap might lie in all of us. The winning solution might not emerge until all of us contribute an answer, put ourselves to the test, ask ourselves what can I do. A macro solution might just require macro participation. The Family Science night at Lincoln Bassett was a great way for families to have fun, experiment together, explore results and share in the collective learning. Kudos to the" Peabody on the Road " exhibit , to the New Haven Science Fair Program Steering Committee and to Principal Gattison and her dedicated staff and volunteers for putting action and praxis on display!
