Friday 13 February, 2009 – ARISE was in New York for the inaugural ARISE African Fashion Collective show at the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. The all-star show at the official Bryant Park tents was not only aimed at celebrating the magazine’s launch as a global newsstand title, it was also the first time New York Fashion Week had ever witnessed an entire runway presentation dedicated to designers from across Africa. ARISE editor Helen Jennings looks back.
