Yale University hosted The ITA National Indoors, one of the most prestigious intercollegiate national individual tennis tournaments of the year from November 5-8,2009 at the new Cullman-Heyman Center.The country's top 128 college players from across the country descended upon New Haven. Some past players that have gone on to become ATP & WTA players include James Blake, Bob & Mike Bryan, John Isner, Sam Querrey , Lisa Raymond and Malavia Washington. The draw consisted of 32 men and women singles players and the top 16 men's and women's doubles teams.
Yale coaches, Alex Dorato and Danielle McNamara recruited volunteers to help with logistics for the tournament, the Welcome Banquet, Kids Day and more. A special shout out goes to George Howard for manning the volunteer ship and steering the able bodied volunteers along the the correct course of behavior including some of those pictured that will remain unnamed but good spirited! Oh did I mention that the Edgewood Park Tennis Club, under the direction of Billy Bostic was well represented among the ranks of the volunteer army.
