Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Indoor Tournament is coming to Yale!!
For the 1st time, Yale has the honor of hosting The ITA National Indoors, one of the most prestigious intercollegiate national individual tennis tournaments of the year, to take place from November 5-8, 2009 at the new Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
The country's top 128 college players from across the country, some past players have gone on to become ATP & WTA players (ie James Blake, Bob & Mike Bryan, John Isner, Sam Querrey & Lisa Raymond). The draw will consist of 32 men and women singles players and the top 16 men's and women's doubles teams.
Yale coaches, Alex Dorato and Danielle McNamara, are lining up volunteers to help with logistics for the tournament, the Welcome Banquet, Kids Day and more. Whether it is for a few hours or a whole=2 0day, your assistance is appreciated. All volunteers will receive lunch, a T-shirt and get to see great tennis. Also, Yale has been asked to provide housing for at least 40 participants. The requirements include supplying a bed and a continental breakfast, transportation is not required. For more info on housing a player or two, please contact Diane Sullivan at dsullivan@pilotpentennis.com or 203-306-7935.
If you are a trained ball kid in 8th grade or younger, please consider volunteering on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8th. Due to NCAA regulations, you can not be in high school. To register contact Christian Thompson, Yale's assistant coach at christian.thompson@yale.edu.
