YALE-NEW HAVEN SUMMER HIGH SCHOOL “SHARE DAY”
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=130119&id=585698688&l=a982fa2255The students of the Yale-New Haven Summer High School, a collaboration of Yale University and New Haven Public Schools presented the culmination of the work they have been doing this summer at “Share Day”.The Yale-New Haven Summer High School is a free program that has been running for 30 years and is designed for students in grades 9 through 12 who are planning on attending college. The overall theme of this summer’s program was “Human Rights: Where Are We? Where Are We Going? How Can I Help” and the students learned about immigration issues around the world and here in the United States. At “Share Day”, students held a mock debate along with several speeches about various human rights issues surrounding immigration such as refugees, human trafficking, child soldiering, genocide, discrimination and civil rights.
A total of 41 students enrolled in the summer high school program and the youth came from 11 different school districts, including New Haven, as well as several private schools.
