CARE Research Assistant Job Posting

CARE: Community Alliance for Research and Engagement
A strong New Haven is a healthy New Haven

CARE Research Assistant

Organizational Overview
CARE: Community Alliance for Research and Engagement was established in May 2007
as an integral component of the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation (YCCI).
A goal of YCCI is to translate research from bench to bedside; CARE will take
that one step further?translating research from bedside to community. CARE
provides an unprecedented opportunity to enhance the health of the citizens of
New Haven by fostering rigorous community-based research and by translating
scientific breakthroughs into practical benefits for the community. CARE
builds upon a solid foundation of collaboration between Yale and the New Haven
community intended to improve the quality of life for all residents.

CARE has received substantial funding from the Donaghue Foundation to advance
the Community Interventions for Health (CIH) initiative designed to improve New
Haven?s individual and community health and to promote health equity. CIH
seeks to mobilize community interventions in schools, workplaces, health
centers, and neighborhoods to address three risk factors (poor diet, lack of
physical activity, and tobacco use) that contribute to four chronic diseases
accounting for 50% of deaths worldwide. CARE will manage the implementation
of the CIH initiative and serve as an integral vehicle for health promotion and
chronic disease management in New Haven. CIH is a global initiative of the
Oxford Health Alliance; New Haven will be the first US site.
