AAAC was a key player in bringing the issue of the State formally recognizing its role in slavery. AAAC will lay out recommendations it says should follow the passage of House Joint Resolution 1: Resolution Expressing The Profound Regret Of The Connecticut General Assembly For The History Of Wrongs Inflicted Upon Black Citizens By Means Of Slavery, Exploitation And Legalized Racial Segregation, And Calling On All Citizens To Take Part In Acts Of Racial Reconciliation.

Invited speakers include Katrina Brown, Representative Kenneth Green (1st District), members of the Black & Hispanic Caucus, Cynthia Jennings- Civil Rights Attorney, Scot X. Esdaile - NAACP President, Jay Stewart - University of Hartford Associate Professor, George Logan - AAAC Chair, and representatives from the Anti-Defamation League.
