Governor Deval Patrick Speaks at Yale in Honor of Black History Month

The annual Black History Month Dinner , Yale's Afro-American Cultural Center 40th Anniversary Kick-off and Black Male Appreciation in Honor of House Founders took place on Friday February 13, at Pierson College. This event was open to the public which is important to note. The Honorable Deval Patrick, governor of Massachussetts delivered the thoughtful, cogent and insightful keynote address. He also responded in a sincere and heartfelt manner to questions from students, alums and the members of the extended Yale community. In particular he referenced a hate letter he had received and nobly shared with the audience that all American's regardless of their biases and beliefs deserve our understanding.

We so often hear the motto, for God, Country and Yale. Let's imagine for example that you were a college student listening to Governor Patrick having just witnessed less than a month before the historical inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama. It is conceivable to consider that regardless of whether you as this college student consider yourself to be a republican or a democrat. The tradition of Yale students aspiring to respond to the call of public service had to be reinforced during Governor Patrick's remarks and provides inspiration for us all.
