I was caught totally by surprise last night and just have to share this. Went to an advance screening of TD Jakes' Not Easily Broken. What a movie!! Good cast with some (Kevin Hart, Jenifer Lewis) perhaps giving the performances of their career. Can't recall a better job of directing by Bill Duke. What is so refreshing is I believe it's what could be referred to as a chick flick told from a male point of view. Had to wipe some tears at the end. Word of mouth is going to propel this one into a big hit . . . at least in our community. Some of it is predictable, but it makes you feel for the characters, teaches some important lessons, and not a single gun is shot and there's no buffoonery.
