What would make a 1956 graduate of James Hillhouse High School in New Haven board a Trailways Bus in 1961 to become a Freedom Rider? New Haven’s Lula White will join two other Freedom Riders - Reverend Reginald Green and Ellen Ziskind – along with Eric Etheridge, author of “Breach of Peace: Portraits of the 1961 Mississippi Freedom Riders” for a Civic Conversation at the Main (Ives) Branch on Wednesday, October 29 at 6:00 pm. Cheryl Greenberg, the Paul E. Raether Distinguished Professor of History at Trinity College in Hartford will moderate the conversation.
