A film will be released this fall, a satire to some, ominous to others.
Some will consider the film to be another salvo across the bow from the conservative right wing in Hollywood. A tactic just in time to up the ante regarding the upcoming election.
I have written already about the historic relationship between media and politics
even when there were just broadsides and not newspapers.
I will save for another day the historical fact that the "Birth of A Nation " was released just around the time that
Blacks and other allies of Color, were recognizing that this race question and racial oppression was not going to be solved
by a government which at that time continued to aid, abet and sanction race and class apartheid.
The creation of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the creation of Black Fraternities and Sororities coincided with the block buster release of " Birth of A Nation." "Birth of A Nation" as you know celebrated the Klu Klux Klan and the iconic and revered status of white women hood.
So as mentioned a few days ago, whether we should be very , very afraid or diligent, awake and proactive remains the challenge before and after this upcoming every four year collective examination of the heart and soul of America.
