The Playwriting Festival is the culmination of a year long playwriting program offered by Comprehensive Arts to all kindergarten through twelfth grade students in the New Haven public schools district.
The purpose of the program is to demonstrate to classroom teachers how the dramatic arts can help students attain higher levels of achievement in the language arts curriculum and other content areas.
Schools that participate in the program receive workshops in the classrooms. At the end of the program, student works are evaluated and all the scripts that meet the program’s criteria are published in an annual playwriting publication.
