I recently attended a commnity meeting pertaining to the AIDS crisis. Reality checks are important and it does make one ponder what is it about human nature that encourages risk taking behavior. Gambling has been around a long time ,long before Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.
We know that folks smoke, drink and seek out experiences with predictable consequences. It does make one wonder , but then again haven't we all acted with our eyes wide open, knowing that what we were doing was inherently detrimental in the short or long term? It does make one ponder about what is this thing called human nature or human animal nature.
Much of the discussion at the community meeting was rational and objective with the usual tinge of psychological and societal analysis. But is does make one ponder , who are we? What makes us who we are?
